Beginning Hindi Class (First Year)
The Beginning Hindi class lasts one academic year and is divided into three terms of eleven weeks each. Class meets one time per week for two hours per meeting.
In the first term of the beginning year, students will learn: to read and write Hindi using the Devanagari script (also used for Sanskrit) correct pronunciation, early conversational skills enabling you to talk about family and friends, and a beginning understanding of Hindi grammar.
By the end of the beginning year (3 terms) students will have been introduced to the major grammatical structures in the Hindi language, be writing original compositions, and be conversing in and understanding Hindi at a basic level.
